Our Future Leaders Course - applications now open

Inspiring Scotland and the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) teamed up to create a leadership course for people with learning disabilities.

The course is designed to help participants develop the skills and tools to make choices that will help them live the healthiest, happiest and most fulfilled life possible.

The next ‘Our Future Leaders’ course is open to 12 people with learning disabilities.

Our latest cohort of ‘Our Future Leaders’ is running from  Wednesday 1st February – Wednesday June 14th 2023.

Supporting Scotland’s Learning Disabilities sector

The Inspiring Inclusion fund works towards the aims of the Scottish Government autism and learning difficulty transformation plan. This plan recognises that people who have a learning disability have the same aspirations and expectations as everyone else and is guided by a vision shaped by the Scottish Government’s ambition for all citizens.

Everyone – including people with learning disabilities – should be able to contribute to a fairer Scotland where we tackle inequalities and people are supported to flourish and succeed.

People with learning disabilities should be treated with dignity, respect and understanding. They should be able to play a full part in their communities and live independent lives free from bullying, fear, and harassment.

‘This is Me’, a collaborative campaign between the Scottish Learning Disability Observatory, Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD), Promoting a More Inclusive Society (PAMIS), and Down’s Syndrome Scotland, aims to raise awareness of and challenge the stigma and discrimination experienced by people with learning disabilities.

Watch this video to find out more about the campaign and some stories from people with learning disabilities.
