Professor Niall Lothian OBE
Niall has spent his career in higher and executive education. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant, he joined Heriot-Watt University where, latterly, he occupied the chair of accounting. In the mid-nineties, he moved on to focus on executive education and management development for companies and business schools globally. For over twenty five years, INSEAD Fontainebleau has been his main stamping ground but visiting appointments at the European School of Management and Technology, Berlin and Duke Corporate Education have widened his geographical reach.
Niall is a member of the Executive Committee of Edinburgh International Festival. He is also a former Chairman of the Advisory Audit Board of the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body and past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Of his role at Inspiring Scotland, Niall says:
When you see a new organisation in your own back yard design a highly innovative model which harnesses the most pressing social issues in Scotland to the big-hearted generosity of the country’s philanthropists, how could anyone stay on the sidelines? It’s a privilege to support the executive team in making it work and to show the world just what’s possible.
Grandparental pleasures and annoying the rest of the family take up the slack in his schedule.
