East Ayrshire Carers Centre provides information, advice, support, training, leisure and social activities to carers of all ages in East Ayrshire. 650 young carers are registered with the Centre making it the largest service provider for young carers in the UK. The Centre has invested in a property which it will develop into a residential respite centre with the vision of it becoming a sustainable social enterprise. Many young carers don’t attend school regularly or leave school without qualifications. This centre will be used to provide training and work experience for young carers, offering in-house placements in the hospitality, catering, gardening, tourism and administration sectors.
