Sam's Story* Yipworld - Ayrshire

At 15, Sam changed from being a bright and capable pupil at school to being unmotivated, detached and at risk of wasting her talent. She was experimenting with underage drinking. The school recognised it needed to act to prevent her jeopardising her options for the future.

Yipworld began to support Sam during school time, exploring issues such as drugs and alcohol, confidence, relationships and motivation. Although Sam was initially truanting from other classes she never missed a Yipworld class and began to show a more positive attitude towards school. She soon realised that she would gain more from attending school and focusing on her class work leading to an improvement in her attendance and attitude.

Sam successfully progressed into fifth year and with Yipworld’s support she secured a place at Kilmarnock College for National Certificate in Beauty, starting in 2011.

Yipworld supported Sam for two years, recognising that helping her to achieve soft outcomes enabled her to go on to secure a college place, and move on to the next stage of her life.
