Childhood should be a time of joy, exploration and learning but for too many children in Scotland this isn’t the case. There are many great organisations striving to offer good play opportunities for young children in Scotland. With a bit of support they can offer much more.
There are over 500,000 children in Scotland between the ages of 5 and 13 who should be able to access play and play services, with many individuals and charities working hard to provide services for them. The sector is made up of numerous playgrounds, play schemes and other projects, however the organisations which run them are often short of funds and lack the skills and resources they need to develop.
We believe that with help and support from Inspiring Scotland the play sector will be able to offer many more opportunities to Scotland’s children.
